Whispy Incense Stream
04:33
|

"Whispy Incense Stream"
I stood in the tower, candle half aglow
Animates a crawling fern, decorates the stone
Suddenly it's circular, grandiose and powerful
I'm floating from my body, like dissipating dew
Whispy incense stream
My grandma dances radiantly, like a wild thing
Arching back, butterfly wings, manzanita skin
A hawk feather token, you bowed to me
I'm looking through marbles as I'm gardening
Coaxing the pods from a pomegranate
Kissing your lips so to see you grinnin'
A duel of doves are painting, minnows at your toes
Giant clouds above us, giant lung blows

On a Matter of Secrets

"On a Matter of Secrets"
Oh, but there's a secret way, there's a limb you pull
When I was young, I had nothing to hide
Secrets were told to whoever would like to hear
Then many flock to the place that was dear
Now I am older and I've learned some things
I'll share some secrets if you're honoring what you seek
Like the greatest gold treasure or most precious piece
Climb past the foothills, lift the veils of illusion
Thanking them, winning them, finding the crescent moon bear
Get a hair from the mark upon his chest

One Eyed Jack

|

"One Eyed Jack"
I made plans with a one eyed jack
He had a hand he was holding back
Don't make plans with a one eyed jack
he will bet, charm, and set a stack
I'm no fool though I do like you
I paused to marvel at the man in the scarves
He took a bow and the crowd applauded loudly
Old man in the stars, your tricks sure are charming
I don't know who you are, but your beauty's disarming
All of the folks were masquerading
But the Jack was the falsest of all those parading
I saw his face, it was distorted
I saw his soul, it was swallowed whole
I'm no fool, 'cause I did not trust you

Two-headed Creature
04:17
|
|||
"Two-headed Creature"
I found the oldest oak
And I peered into it's hollow
The creatures I saw
Enticed me, those shadowy things
I climbed the tree
Seeking a higher thing
Limbs like hands pulled me
It bowed and beckoned
I was offered two things
Love of beauty or love of greed
The two-headed creature breathed
One will be difficult, one easy
I wandered the land
Longed to hold honey in my hand
Longed to forge a good path
But when I panned for gold it revealed ash
Came to a lush valley
The people welcomed me
They offered tea
Milky with cream, sweet as honey
I thought it was a dream
My body still waiting
Beside the still lagoon
Shines like a mirror in the moon
Ooh, we danced 'til darkness
Daylight does fall
I sat beside myself
Which dance was false?
Once in the garden
I planted flowers for to harvest
A thief stole my best rose
They pulled it to their nose, it opened to mold
But they flourished for me
The best of the buds and the worst of the beast

Again with the Mist
04:06
|
|||
"Again with the Mist"
My sister placed crystals all surrounding the house
It's what she thinks causes prophetic dreams now
The gypsy wears a whirling skirt and dances in a flame
A hula hooping fire-step, a geometric piourette
Again with the mist, the swirling phantom
Prowling shyly in a silver cantor
The ancient tarot lady delicately read my cards
Then in torrent anger she clenched her fist and
cursed the stars
Wanderers in the woods, you found the rite of spring
They danced in their silhouettes and for them you did sing

Dare I
04:06
|
|||
"Dare I"
A pretty feather floating
Would do much better on a wing
Dare I be, dare I choose, dare I choose to be
Dare I, dare I
Oh, dare I bare the cold as embers burn low
Made a wish softly in a desert well
Solace of a fierce fleeting hidden spell
Dare I be, dare I wish, dare I wish to be
Dare I, dare I
Oh, cannot bare to grow old with an unmoved soul
The jester of carnival motioned
A gesture to his palm, a token
Dare I be, dare I take, dare I take to be
Dare I, dare I
Oh, dare I sew the seeds of what he gave me
Oh, dare we honor ever piece of splendor

At a Pottery Wheel
02:45
|

"At a Pottery Wheel"
The waters have gotten so cold
I dip my toes, I huddle cold
Seasons are a-cyclin', so I'm a-changin'
Shape the flux like pottery
Silky and spinning
Smooth and soft-winded
Shape the flux like pottery
Drawing loop-de-loop
On a loom
Is it the twine or a whirling ballroom?
Sortin' and winding threads before bed
Weave the flux like a tapestry
Dream ethereal, live on the dirt
Or do the opposite
Opaque agate, opal agate
Totters on the ledge
The wheel keeps turning,
Silky spinning
Shape the flux like pottery

Previous Lives
03:02
|
|||
"Previous Lives"
In a previous life, I did not complain
I lived like a hermit, I bathed in the rain
What did happen to that light in my eye?
Orrery turning moons through the sky
In a previous life, my tongue it swore
Never train mine or another's hand for war
Because before that, I could not forgive
Dueling the ghost of a made-up village
In a previous life, I wrote and I sang
Poems and ballads of love and of pain
I travelled the country three times over
A death in every mistake that I learned

Abandon Fear
04:32
|
|||
"Abandon Fear"
There's a rib in my side
It tells me to be kind
My spirit speaks through the bones I've grown
Though blooming bones grow so slow
Welcome wayfarers to the straight
You've travelled far, your lessons great
Can you balance on the footpath ahead
Can you breath life before you are dead?
The disenchanted cannot find you here
The spear of that spirit cannot scar the sphere
Abandon fear, ye who enter here
There was a gem in my eye
You saw it shine from time to time
It left me half blind
I had to wipe it from my sight
You were a suitor at my gate
I made the mistake to turn you away
Nails of snow, heart of gold
Among men, you are a king
There's a hole in our canoe
We're taking on water, what do we do?
Cup your hands, draw from the flood
Pray that our bodies do not turn to mud
Gather good people
Patch the skeleton
Raise high our banner
Cross the river
